SHIPPING OPERATORS
One of the nerve centres of transportation and of shipping in general is the port. All the industry “players” move and act around this facility: ship-owners, crews, forwarders, carriers, drivers, service suppliers, etc.

Since as early as January 1st 1999 virtually all of the EU short sea shipping services have been accessible to the EU ship-owners who use ships registered in a EU member country, so there’s the need to have a global picture from a European standpoint.

This section of the STIMA web site explores safety, with special reference to operators’ regulations and problems and to the initiatives launched by the operators’ trade associations.
