ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING
The development of international shipping regulations has always been linked with the most impacting accidents, and the STIMA Project cannot help looking at shipping safety from an environmental point of view.

Ever-increasing environmental awareness can be found in the most technical IMO sessions, in the latest European regulations that have sped up the introduction of double-hull ships, the establishment of a Marine Environment Department at the Ministry of the Environment, which is directly under the Minister and has been entrusted to the Harbour’s Master’s offices.

The purpose of this section is to summarise the contents of the STIMA Project that are most relevant to the environment as well as to provide links to specific web sites on preservation, protection criteria, methods and techniques, pollutant searching systems, site reclamation, etc.
