Learning Centre

Within its Observation Post, STIMA has set up a learning centre specialising in professional guidance and refresher courses for students and trade operators. The centre, housed in Fondazione LEM, includes 25 latest-generation multimedia stations and a large auditorium equipped with cutting-edge videoconference technology, multimedia devices and a control room. The activities of the Learning Centre will include a special multimedia platform based on simulation, self-learning and e-learning methods.

Teachers can use the instruments available at STIMA Observation post that has rearranged and made easily accessible the wealth of technical-legal information about shipping safety that is currently available on the web. At present, the databanks of the Observation Post can provide information on port facilities (it can handle 147 national ports of all sizes), transport facilities (it can handle 500 ships carrying hazardous goods), STIMA document archives, divided by pdf documents and links to web sites of interest as well as to databanks of other bodies.

The system is completed by book and multimedia stores and materials produced by scholarships and researchers.
